After the 4-day cease-fire agreed between the Israeli government and the Palestinian armed group and the simultaneous exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners, Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip are again intensifying.
As reported by Euronews, the more than six weeks of shelling and the ground operation launched at the end of October have left tens of thousands injured and more than 13,000 dead, almost two-thirds women and children.
The humanitarian crisis was already very serious before the cease-fire.Food, water, fuel, and medicines are in short supply for the more than two million inhabitants of the Gaza Strip, most of them displaced by now to the south. Only ten hospitals out of a total of 36 are still functioning.
According to Al-Jazeera, since Israel resumed Gaza bombing (after the truce expired) the number of civilian victims and infrastructure damage started to rise significantly again.Dozens of Palestinians have been killed since Israel resumed attacks.
Only today, 1 December 2023, reported Al-Jazeera, Health officials in Gaza declared that at least five people have been killed in a new Israeli air attack on two residential buildings in Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip. As reported Al-Jazeera, in total, Health Ministry officials in Gaza say Israeli air strikes have killed at least 29 people across the Gaza Strip in less than three hours since the resumption of military operations: two people in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza Strip, five in Zeitoun and Shujayea areas, northern Gaza Strip, 10 people at Maghazi, central Gaza Strip, one in Khan Younis city, southern Gaza Strip, two in Hamad town, south of Khan Younis and nine in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip.
These numbers reflect the scale of the conflict and the repercussions, on a daily basis, on civilians who, to date, remain the main victims of the ongoing war.
