Boko Haram Attack Kills 65 near Maiduguri AFP

The deadliest of three attacks by Boko Haram has killed 65 people and injured 136 others in Dalori, a village near the city of of Maiduguri, Nigeria.

On the 30th of January, the Islamist militant group Boko Haram killed 65 people and injured 136 others in the Dalori village near the city of of Maiduguri resulting in the deadliest of three attacks in the past week.

Nigerian military spokesman, Colonel Mustapha Ankas, said that militants entered Dalori in two cars and motorcycles and began attacking residents and their homes. Militants opened fire on residents, burned down houses, and detonated suicide bombers in a crowd, leaving burnt victims unrecognizable. “While people were running for their dear lives…three female suicide bombers attempted to make their way into the crowd…and subsequently got blown up,” said Colonel Ankas.

Prior to Saturday’s attack in Dalori, a suicide bomber killed 10 people on Friday in the Adamawa state, and another attack killed 12 people on Wednesday in the village of Chibok in the Borno state. In 2014, 200 schoolgirls were abducted from Chibok village.

Boko Haram has been attacking villages and launching suicide bombings in places of worship and markets since losing control of territory to the Nigerian government last year. The seven-year insurgency has displaced over 2 million people and killed thousands.
