In Tripoli, Libya, violence does not seem to stop and attacks are often registered. Forces loyal to commander Khalifa Haftar are the main authors of the riots within the country.
Haftar, who controls much of eastern and southern Libya, supported by his forces, launched in April last year an offensive to take over Tripoli. This time, he ordered a rocket barrage in Tripoli that hit more precisely the Soug el-Tlath roundabout and Gharbi street in the centre of the capital. Amin al-Hashemi, spokesman for the Government of National Accord's (GNA) health ministry said that on Sunday five civilians died and 12 wounded due to the crashing of five rockets into residential sectors of Tripoli. The consequences for the victims are of course terrible: many of them are in a serious condition and one even had to suffer a limb amputation. Those attacks, also supported by the foreign powers, happened during the growing number of clashes in the vicinity of Tripoli International Airport. Lately, hundreds of people have been killed and 200.000 had to flee. In addition, again in Tripoli, during the first week of May, at least 15 civilians were killed and 50 others wounded in rocket and drone attacks
The security condition of Libya is still very complex: some areas should be considered off-limits due to the violence, even if it is possible to travel in others. Despite this, even in the accessible areas, travelling with appropriate security protocols is strictly suggested. Clashes on civilian areas of Tripoli that are mostly linked to forces affiliated with Haftar have been condemned as "indiscriminate attacks" by the United Nation (UN) mission in Libya.
