Our Mission
We document the effects of armed conflict on civilian populations. We study, analyse, and disseminate the many ways in which war impacts civilians—both immediately and over time and across borders.
We document the effects of armed conflict on civilian populations. We study, analyse, and disseminate the many ways in which war impacts civilians—both immediately and over time and across borders.
We do this through research, data collection and analysis, public outreach, and collaboration with civil society organisations, universities, research institutes, international bodies, and Italian institutions.
Our Vision
We strive to significantly reduce the human toll of conflicts by strengthening civilian protection mechanisms through research, information, and public engagement.
We strive to significantly reduce the human toll of conflicts by strengthening civilian protection mechanisms through research, information, and public engagement.
Our vision embraces an integrated approach at every stage of conflict:
- In prevention, where bolstering democratic participation and adherence to international conventions are essential tools for avoiding suffering;
- In crisis, where rapid humanitarian response and compliance with International Humanitarian Law (IHL) are vital to ensure minimum standards of conduct;
- In the aftermath, where we support civilian victims with the awareness that the effects of war do not end when the fighting stops. We promote knowledge and study around victims’ rights and their social and economic reintegration, while raising public awareness about the long-term consequences of war.
