Ten people were killed and four missing in an attack by unidentified men in Northern Burkina Faso

The civilians pushing their carts to the market were shot haphazardly in the town of Markoye in the Sahel reserve. This attack resulted in the death of 10 civilians. This region bordering Mali and Niger has a heavy presence of Islamist militants.

The militants attacked when Burkina Faso was celebrating the 61st anniversary of its army with a function centered on the fight against terrorism.
